Upgrade Your Smile with Same Day Crowns with Dr. Miro

A lot of patients come into our office and want what they call a same-day crown, a Ceric crown, or a CAD cam crown. I’m Dr. Rachel Miro, a dentist at Dental Implant and Aesthetic Specialists, and today, I’m going to go through with you everything that it takes to get a same-day crown.

What is a Same-Day Crown?

You might be wondering what exactly is a same-day crown? A same-day crown is something that is made all in one day. That means that the tooth is prepared for the crown. The crown is milled and the crown is actually cemented onto the tooth permanently all in one visit.

Who Needs a Same-Day Crown?

You may be wondering, can I get a same-day crown or why would I need a same-day crown? Same-day crowns are used for patients who have been diagnosed with a broken tooth or maybe there are cosmetic reasons why a tooth is discolored, and they want to change the color of their tooth.

Benefits of Same-Day Crowns

A lot of times, what we’re looking for is making sure that the material that same-day crowns are milled out of is the right choice for these patients. If you go to your dentist and they tell you, yes, you are a candidate for a same-day crown, you might be thinking, well, what are the benefits of getting this crown done today versus waiting? One of the greatest things is time efficiency. It’s one dental visit, and you get everything done. A lot of patients have busy schedules, which is why they opt for same-day crowns.

Eliminating the Need for Temporary Crowns

Another reason why same-day crowns are really nice is because that means that you don’t have to wear a temporary crown. Temporary crowns are on there with temporary cement, so a lot of times they can break or they can fall off. With a same-day crown, you don’t have to worry about a temporary crown if you don’t need to wear temporary crowns.

Minimizing Discomfort and Ensuring a Perfect Fit

These permanent crowns also minimize discomfort. We make sure that the margins of the teeth are properly fit. We use CAD-cam software and SERIC to ensure that the patients are getting the perfect crown for their mouths.

Material Considerations for Same-Day Crowns

One of the biggest limitations to same-day crowns and the biggest drawback is the type of material you’re using. It really is patient-dependent. The materials that we use for same-day crowns, EMAX resins, sometimes are a great option for our patients. In other cases, the patient might need a gold crown or a zirconia crown, and in those cases, the traditional lab-made crown.

Prioritizing Patient Needs

It really is what’s best for our patients here at Dental Implant and Aesthetic Specialist. Our patients are the highest priority. Therefore, whether it’s a same-day crown or a traditional crown based on the material that you need, we make sure that we give you all the knowledge you need to know to make the right decision for you.
